Week 13 as I see it, was the start of 2008 for recommencing building of the house, and things moved along quite well. The smart wiring was one of the first new things added this week.

The electrician had been fitting out all the electrical wiring for the house this week as well.

A close up look at the new digital electrical meters. This one also supports 3 phase for the ducted A/C.

The ducted airconditioning went in this week as the few photos below show...

The rafters and trusses were reinforced in the roof space to take the weight of the A/C unit.

On Friday 11th January, the bricks arrived!!

We grabbed an opportunity given to us by our Metricon Site Supervisor to add extra noggings in places where we wanted to add extra strength. Below, we knew we wanted to hang a heavy, large screen TV on our master bedroom wall, and so decided to add another 12 or more noggings in this area as shown below... Note that all the measurements will allow us to later know exactly where to add screw holes etc...

The Gallery in the hall way was given a row of noggings along the top for hanging heavy paintings and wall photos. One special treat was adding a gang plate and hole in the stud above, to grant access to a power lead (from a floating power outlet in the ceiling) for a 10" digital photo frame to be hung in the middle of the Gallery wall. This wall is directly across from the front lounge where we can sit and see/listen to photos and videos on the photo frame!

I also added some extra gang plates in the front study for future use. Shortly after moving in, when the extra 4 floating power outlets will allow 4 security infrared cameras to be located around the house. These work 24 hours a day and will record video when motion is detected at up to 15m away in pure darkness. The DVR unit can record all 4 cameras simultaneously @ 25 frames per second back to the unit located in the study. This unit has a removable hard drive where all video can be archived if need be, or transferred over to other backup devices.

The rear lounge, side wall, can also now have heavy paintings/photos added...

The rear lounge, rear wall, can also now have heavy paintings/photos added...

In the media room, I thought it would be a good idea to make use of the surround speaker system we had bought previously, and hide the speaker cables in the wall. Therefore I have run the cables already and made room just behind where the TV unit will be located. (Looking forward to a 50" or greater TV in this room)

The right rear speaker location...

The left rear speaker location...

Both rear speakers can now be mounted on a small frame by using the horzizontal nogging added. The speaker cables will come directly out the wall behind the speakers and be hidden from view.

I am also very thankful to Annie's youngest brother David, who came by with Annie's Dad to help cut back the grass around the house. As you can see it was getting very long. The bricklayers should have a better chance of getting stuck into their work now that the long grass has been cut away from the house.
